6th International Meeting of Mosaicists in CHARTRES

The city Chartres, one hour from Paris away and in the proximity of the casle La Loire, is essentially admited by the cathedral, which belongs to the World Inheritance of UNESCO.

In Chartres, there are two wonders, the cathedral of course, and a modest house in the district Saint-Chéron : the Picassiette house.

During nearly 25 years Raymond ISIDORE (1900-1964), called Picasiette, decorated the walls and the roofs of his house, but also the grounds, the ceilings and each object or part of furniture. He undertakes then the decoration of the external walls and the course and finishes by the realization of the blue tomb, the Tomb of the Spirit, at the bottom of the garden. The house becomes an immense mosaic. In 1982 the Picassiette house was classified historic building.

Association the 3R (Renovate, Restore, Rehabilitate) in the Picassiette district in Chartres manages a mosaics-workshop and promote the art of mosaic.
This year, the 3R celebrate the 20 years of their existence and the 10 years of the creation of the Meetings for the Price "Picassiette".

With Claire-Lise we participated in these meetings by presenting one of our works.

Here is the work of Claire-Lise "Anger" and I presented the Geisha.

There was 230 mosaic-works from 15 different countries.

The exhibition proceeded in the Chapel of the Fulbert College from 28th October till 26th November 2006.

My favourite work of this exhibition was "Oiseaux des îles" by Ricard Josée. I find that the ligthness of the feathers is very well interpreted with the marble.

25th November, the day of the handing-over of the Price "Picassiette" was organized with conferences and readings of Maisters-Mosaicists and writers.

The first Price "Picassiette" was awarded to Sandrine Tabara-Farget for her work "Gada".

2nd Price : Claire Guirin "La lande"

3rd Price : Nadia Quinet-Lemoine "Triangles"

The work "Anger" of Claire-Lise was noticed by the jury. Association the 3R proposed to show her work in the Chapel Saint-Eman in Chartres from 11th February till 14th April 2007.

And here are some other works. Click on the mini-photos to enlarge.
